The Structure of a
(Typical) Ceremony.
Every ceremony is completely personalised to you, but a typical ceremony may flow like this:
1. Before We Begin, A few announcements and reminders for your guests before the ceremony starts.
2. Welcome! Your celebrant welcomes everyone and officially begins the ceremony.
3. Your Love Story - A chance to share your journey, from how you met to what brought you here.
4. Family, Bridal Party & Readings. Optional moments to acknowledge the people who matter most, introduce your bridal party, or include a reading or poem.
5. Giving Away - A traditional or modern moment to acknowledge your families and their support.
6. The Legal Bits. The legally required wording, including the Monitum and legal vows.
7. The Asking & Personal Vows. Your “I do” moment, followed by personal vows if you choose to include them.
8. The Rings Exchange, your rings and say a few words, or simply let the moment speak for itself.
9. You’re Married! Your celebrant officially declares you married.
10. Signing the Documents. You and your two witnesses sign the marriage documents.
11. The Big Finish! Your celebrant introduces you as a married couple, and you’re ready to celebrate!
And remember — this is simply a guide. Your ceremony can be as traditional, romantic, relaxed, funny or completely unconventional as you want it to be.
